{February 17, 2009}   Yay … NOT!

So after sitting here biting my nails for over a week I finally phoned the TEFL course people. I’m leaving soon so I need to see if they’d mailed my certificate. Once you’ve completed the course you get an emailed PDF version of the certificate and a letter of recommendation. BUT I need the original certificate if I want anyone to consider it.

On the phone and after being put on hold I finally get the person in charge “Yes, Ms… we have mailed you the certificate on the 10th… it usually takes 4 to 6 weeks to arrive”
“Ur, great!” (silently saying OH $H!T… I leave in less than 10 dayz!!!!!!!!)

Don’t you just love it? I find in so many things I need to know the answer before I can ask the question! But if I knew the answer why would I need to ask the question… no, wait I wouldn’t! Therefore, go around and ask usless questions praying one of them is right til you find the right answer

:-)

Now if only I had known this wonderful piece of information sooner – I’d gladly paid extra to get it FedExd asap!?! Now it looks like I’m gonna have to get someone responsible FedEx it to me in Korea… Yay-NOT!

On a different note – I’ve got my eticket and through the magic of email and facebook have now met a few of my new co-workers … two of which I’ll be on the same flight with. Now all that’s left to do is all that last minute crap & pack.

{February 5, 2009}   Great day for an A

I woke up this morning not expecting too much until I saw my inbox…

Inside, a nice little notice saying that I’ve achieved  98% in my TEFL course… that’s a distinction grade and just in time!

Hmmm so now it’s time to eat!!! It’s time to get out to as many places I won’t get to see for awhile… a long while.

Mexican, Italian, Greek, Thai, Indian, and anything else I can get with in the next few days. Hmm getting hungry right now…

{January 31, 2009}   The Big Countdown…

The clock is ticking … 26 days in total, 18 business days, 7 weekend!

So yeah, not a lot of time!!!!

It’s not easy to condense your life into 2 suitcases… especially when you need to take so much stuff with you.

I’m not a ginormous girl but compared to Asian girls… yikes!! Last time I was able to “put” clothes on but they didn’t quite fit right – girls if you have a figure with more shape than a pencil, you’ll know what I mean.

Thankfully for sites like Sierra Trading Post, Lands End, and Victoria’s Secret I have some new found friends. The hard part is dealing with the stuff you do have… oh and shoes!

{January 1, 2009}   Happy New Year …

Finally it’s 2009! So to new beginnings, achievements, better laughs, and goals accomplished.

2008 was a year of er-what-ok! and a lot of growing. One thing I have learned is that if you aren’t growing you’re stagnant and that’s too close to death. And it seems that I’m not the only one looking for a new beginning this year … I just finished reading a favourite blog of mine (sarahlane) and was a little shocked, though I’d suspected things weren’t as good as they seemed to be. Oh well good luck to 2009 may it be better than 2008. Life moves on and we all have our moments good and bad so I’m sure it will get better.

If 2008 taught me anything it is this… the only mistake you truly making in this life is not learning from the ones you’ve made. Life’s about lessons so learn and grow.

On another note I checked in on dictionary.com and the word of today, my favorite word no doubt, is none other than Wanderlust!

And no doubt again … I have it!

I’ve decided to try another year at ESL teaching in South Korea. I’ve only applied to one place and that’s SMOE, Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education. My interview is on Tuesday and I’ve been a busy little bee getting all of my documents in order. Yes, I know I can make a lot more money going the hagwon route! However, the whole getting paid on time, decent vacation time, and being in Seoul out weights most other things. Besides I have a ton of other projects to acomplish and over working myself at one job six days a week isn’t one of them.

On my list for 2009 is …

  • 3 writing courses
  • visiting family and friends in the Asia-Pacific
  • my peak physical fitness
  • new launch of travel videos
  • published travel articles

2009 is gonna be the year of accompishment, travel, growth, savings, and so much more…

So here’s looking at 2009!

{December 25, 2008}   Merry Christmas

It’s a snowy white Christmas instead of the usual wet Christmas.

So merry Christmas and to a prosperous 2009 :-)

{September 27, 2006}   Life is an adventure…

Life is an adventure and on that road lies a destiny. The question is, did you take the right one? And if not can you change it? I hope so, otherwise…

My favorite question I can’t stand to answer is, “Where do you see yourself in x many years?”
I wish I had the guts to say, if I knew that I wouldn’t be sitting here talking about…I’d be one my way there.

Does anyone truly know? I don’t mean that I am void of dreams and ambitions… but they are not clear or at least they aren’t perfectly mapped out, yet!
I believe it would be nice not to have to contemplate at all and instead be in a hammock somewhere warm dozing off to the sound of the lapping waves as they hit the glimmering white sands, ah paradise.

But then again…this chipping of my keyboard would cease and this page would not exist in the recesses of cyberspace.

Life as I know it… or something like that!

So, what is this all about? Mere ramblings, I hope not! Hopefully this is the start of many things …for starters a remembrance of the places I have visited and those I hope to see.
And I have seen a mere glimpse Southern Africa, Europe, UK, North American West Coast.

In the past few years my main objective was to find out what I wanted do with my life.
I tried various different occupations – none of which I have enjoyed for more than a few months! Learning is the key to growth… and I beginning to believe that I’ll never grow up!

What else this about …

It’s about the travels I have taken since I can first remember. I love traveling. It’s my dream to get paid to travel and write about my adventures.

It is where I will write about adventures – past & present – honing my writing skills and perhaps provide an amusing look at travel. A creative outlet. To become an accomplished writer and travel the world. Too romantic, perhaps, or many be just a search to find what others already have.

Hopefully you as the reader will be able to enjoy what I have experienced.
