{June 18, 2008}   What’s what

Hey everyone!

OK so I work primarily on my MacBook Pro and a few months back I upgraded to Leopard.
Unfortunately a few to many moves over the last while meant that I “miss placed” (read: lost) a few of my original applications. So with the upgrade I lost them!

Yes, you can upgrade without losing anything but I needed to clean things up! I had a iMac before which died on me a week before I bought the MacBook Pro. So we took the hard drive out and transfered it all once it arrived.

So among other things I started to use the PC side of things via Bootcamp… great! Well except for the fact that “some” people sell their programs for PC users only!! So where does this leave a mac user…out!

First I want to acknowledge that yes there are in fact plenty of applications for mac … but surprise surprise they cost a lot! And I don’t have a ton of money to buy all the best versions… there’s only so many times you can come up with enough dough to buy stuff – besides I have student loans to pay off! But I do make exceptions like FCPro!

So what about the free stuff? Well, the more I look the more I’m finding that although there is free stuff it’s often not that good… or it’s just too basic. Now I don’t know about you but I want stuff I can use – not so basic that can’t do anything with it and not so bloody complex it would take an IT degree to figure out.

Well, over the next little while I’ll be going over some of the free stuff I have found and give an opinion on what’s what! I know there are a ton of people already reviewing out there but I find that most assume you’re a techie while others are too basic.

{June 8, 2008}   My Frustration!!

Hey, I don’t know about you but I am frustrated with the lack of good content for MACS. So this is the primary reason I decided to create talk about Macs in my blog – to help others who might have the same frustrations!

In university I did work a lot on macs using editing software, etc and taught many of the lower levels how to do basic video editing. Which again was something I jumped into not knowing much but did to help others and show I could kick ass to… basically as the only girl in the film department I had to prove I could get it and adapt quickly! And yeah it sucked but I sure learnt a hell of a lot but it was a constant battle. Luckily for me I had a mentor who helped a lot :-)

Feel free to comment and make suggestions.

Listen I’m no techie expert and don’t know everything… ok I’m not even technical half the time BUT I’m a woman on a mission to help others who are equally frustrated!!!!
